"Alta Mesa Park after the fire" by Rose Pauson
Born in Sn Francisco, CA on Nov. 28, 1896, Pauson was a lifelong resident of her native city. A spinster, she died on May 25, 1964.
She was known for painter and craftperson.
She owned a house in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 1943 the house burned down when a fallen ember from the fireplace ignited a hand-woven curtain on a nearby window. All that remained were the ruins of the foundation and walls. The ruins became a local landmark known as "Shiprock", due to their form and outstanding location. The building was located on a hillock on the present alignment on 32nd st.
The architect was Frank Lloyd Wright.
